Description: In a patriarchal society, housework is not as socially respected as the real work it is. This series aims to interrogate the power imbalances that take place within a stereotypical heterosexual marriage. The works depict the ways in which women are expected to take on the brunt of domestic labor within a relationship. The design on the sweatshirt was hand-stitched on to showcase traditional feminine labor as a physical part of the series. As we address the pay gap in the professional world, it is important that we also question the inequalities that are present in the domestic sphere. All the imagery was created by me on Adobe Illustrator. The design on the sweatshirt was hand-stitched on, but the sweatshirt itself is not my design.
